Liverpool Vs. Manchester United – Domingo, 6 de marzo

En muchas pandillas de aficionados de Liverpool, existe el eterno debate sobre cuál es el “derbi” más grande de la temporada. Contra el Everton que representa el derbi de la ciudad o contra el Manchester United que representa el derbi de los dos equipos más laureados en la liga inglesa. La gran diferencia entre la distancia de los dos derbis es un parque entre Liverpool y Everton (Stanley Park) y una autopista entre Liverpool y Manchester United (East Lancs Road). La opinion está dividida aquí en Liverpool pero este fin de semana nadie va a pensar en esta pregunta porque ya vuelve el derbi del East Lancs Road a Anfield (¡no Anfield Road como les gusta decir los comentaristas extranjeros!).

Durante las últimas temporadas, lo que era impensable durante la primera etapa de Kenny Dalglish como entrenador se ha hecho realidad. Al final de esta temporada, Manchester United podría haber ganado más títulos ingleses que Liverpool: su decimonovena liga. Cuando Alex Ferguson dijo que quería bajarle los humos al Liverpool, mucha gente se rió. Desafortunadamente, United está ahora en esta posición y una victoria en Anfield este domingo le dará tres puntos más en su búsqueda del decimonoveno campeonato.

Desde que volvió Kenny Dalglish a ser el entrenador de Liverpool, ha vuelto la confianza tanto al equipo como a los aficionados. Incluso la derrota contra West Ham no nos ha quitado la confianza que tenemos. Lo más importante de este domingo es que seguimos en la lucha por un puesto para jugar en Europa durante la próxima temporada y eso nos ayuda a olvidarnos de que el Manchester United está a punto de batir nuestro record de dieciocho ligas inglesas.

Las noticias de que Andy Carroll volvió a entrenarse esta semana y de que Raúl Meireles y Daniel Agger, dos jugadores revitilizados con King Kenny como jefe, están disponibles para jugar, hace que los hinchas del Liverpool tengamos mucha esperanza en un buen resultado este domingo. Una victoria este domingo sería la tercera consecutiva en casa contra Manchester United en la liga inglesa. ¡Y que no se nos olvide! A King Kenny le debemos la victoria porque nuestro Rey cumplirá 60 años este viernes.

Tengan por seguro que este domingo, cuando nos levantemos con la resaca del sábado, estaremos listos para la guerra que nos enfrentará en Anfield. Todos los pubs en Liverpool estarán reventados y el ambiente de Anfield estará a la altura de la reputación que nuestro equipo tiene en el mundo entero.

There is an ongoing debate amongst Liverpool fans as to which is the biggest derby match of the season. The Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton, representative of the city of Liverpool, or the “derby” between Liverpool and Manchester United, between the two most successful clubs in the English league. The difference between the distances of both derby matches is a park (Stanley Park) between Liverpool and Everton and the East Lancs Road between Liverpool and Manchester United. Opinion is divided on this one but this weekend everyone will forget about this as the “East Lancs Road Derby” once more returns to Anfield. (Not Anfield Road as many foreign commentators like to call it!).

Throughout the last few seasons, what was once unthinkable during Kenny Dalglish’s first reign in charge of Liverpool has now become reality. Come the end of this season, Manchester United may have won more English league titles than Liverpool, if they clinch their nineteenth. When Alex Ferguson said that he wanted to knock Liverpool from their perch, many people laughed. Unfortunately, Manchester United are now in that position and a victory for them at Anfield would give them three more points in their quest for their number nineteen.

Since Kenny Dalglish returned as temporary manager of Liverpool, confidence has returned amongst both fans and the players. Even the defeat against West Ham has not taken away the new found confidence that we have going into Sunday’s fixture. But the most important thing this Sunday is that we carry on in our quest for a spot in Europe next season and forget that Manchester United could be about to break our record of 18 English league titles.

With the news that Andy Carroll returned to training this week and that Daniel Agger and Raul Meireles, both revitalised under King Kenny, are available to play, Liverpool fans have hope in a great result this Sunday. A victory would be our third consecutive win at home against Manchester United in the Premier League. Let us not forget that we owe this victory to King Kenny, as he turns 60 years old this Friday.

Rest assured that this Sunday, when we all wake up with our hangovers from Saturday night, we will be ready for the war that awaits us at Anfield. All the pubs in Liverpool will be packed out and the atmosphere at Anfield will no doubt reach and exceed the levels that Liverpool FC are famous for throughout the world.
